The Jury commends the designers for successfully applying an architectural approach to stage set design to widen the agency of architecture. To fulfil conditions such as an expedited overnight set-up, speedy scene changes and structural loading of the cast, the designers were able to build flexibility into an abstract composition of white volumes that met physical demands as well as lent the stage to artistic interpretation. With a series of ramps and landings aided by thoughtful use of lighting, the stage was meaningfully utilised for stage set scene changes where the architectural volumes engaged with light, playing with sense of depth and perspectives, and allowed for a myriad of different configurations, that were creative and useful for the performance.
